Amoke Foundation, a charitable organisation focusing on Sickle Cell disease, is excited to announce a strategic collaboration with Outreach Signature Medical, a one of Nigeria’s foremost Women and Children Hospital. This collaboration aims to develop pain management hubs (PMH) within Outreach hospitals for early management of painful crisis in patients with sickle cell anaemia.
“This collaboration allows us to expand our pain management hubs (PMH) for the early management of sickle cell crisis to the foremost acute care children’s hospital in the country,” stated Jide Adetunji, managing trustee at Amoke Foundation.
“The benefits of this alliance are multi-phased: a) a collective responsibility for quality of care by both parties. b) development of a novel model of care which would deliver early treatment and resolution of vaso occlusive crisis. c) Identify other complications of sickle cell anaemia and signpost to the appropriate centre within the Outreach group or to external medical centres. d) reduction in the cost of care.” said Dr Efunbo Dosekun, consultant paediatrician and founder Outreach Group of Hospitals.
The partnership is the beginning of a strategic collaboration to focus on improving the quality of life of people suffering from sickle cell disease, a public health priority and a neglected health problem in sub-Saharan Africa.
